Top 3 Wines This Summer

I thought it would be a good time to do a little reflection on the top 3 wines reviewed recently and also talk about something new.

“Summer’s going fast, nights growing colder…  Children growing up, old friends growing older”  – Neil Peart, 1987.

It’s Labor Day weekend, 2012 here in the United States and this time of year always seems to mark time’s end and also time’s beginning.  The summer is coming to an end, yet there is a feel of starting anew with the change of season.  Kids are heading off to start a new school year and those of us lucky enough to have a job, know that the big push to the end of the year is about to begin.

First, let’s reflect…  Since this year’s launch of the blog, I (often with help from friends and family) have reviewed  15 different wines.  Looking back through the wine journal that this blog has nicely become, I wanted to share my top 3 wines .  I mostly considered taste and uniqueness.  So, without further ado, here’s my picks…

Top 3 Wines

#3 – Stone Wolf Vineyards 2008 Pinot Noir.  There was something about this wine that really stuck with me.  I’ve really grown to like Pinots and have become very curious about the Oregon wine scene.

#2 – Mooiplaas The Bean Pinotage.  Any wine that makes you think of chocolate without tasting like chocolate has to be good, right?  I also like the Pinot / Hermitage blend.  A great wine from South Africa.

And last but not least, the best of the top 3 wines reviewed this summer…

#1 – Edna Valley Vineyard 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon.  This Paso Robles Cab from Luis Obispo County was, in one word, FABULOUS.
