Amici Pinot Noir Review

Amici Pinot Noir

Amici Pinot Noir comes from Amici Cellars in Napa Valley, California, USA.

Awarded 92 points by James Suckling, this Russian River Valley appellation wine is 100% Pinot Noir, with no blending.

It was fermented in a 100% stainless and aged for 13 months in 100% French Oak.

My very kind next-door neighbors gave this wine to me as a gift.

They know I love Pinot Noir and I’m very thankful to them for sharing this wine with me!

Now, onto the review…

Amici Pinot Noir Wine Review

From the bottle:

Our Pinot Noir is a deep, lush expression of the Russian River with velvety tannins that produce a long, rich finish.

I tasted the 2019 vintage of Amici Pinot Noir Russian River Valley.

Appearance

In the glass, this wine is Burgundy in color with blood red reflections from light.

I found it to be typical in color for a pure Pinot Noir, if not just a little bit darker than you sometimes see.

Aroma

In my opinion, this wine’s aroma was one of its best features, with notes of plum, bright cherry and candy.

I also noted a hint of pine forest.

Overall, a complex aroma with a slight whiff of alcohol in the nose.

Amici Pinot Noir alcohol content 14.5% by volume, per the bottle.

Taste

On the palate, I noticed hints of raspberry and cherry, with a bit of “tang” as well.

Further sips revealed softer flavors on the front and top of the tongue.

Along with that, I discovered some tart flavors on the sides of the tongue and the back of the palate.

Enjoyable and again, complex.

Mouthfeel and Tannins

I found the mouthfeel to be silky, with soft but definitely noticeable “all over the palate” tannins.

Finish

This wine was medium finishing with a good blend of flavor and slightly bitter tannins.

Perhaps a bit shorter in finish than other Pinot Noir I’ve tasted.

However, since there was no blending with this wine, that’s not too surprising.

Overall Opinion of Amici Pinot Noir

Overall, I greatly enjoyed this wine and would rate it a solid 90 points.

I especially enjoyed the intriguing complexity this wine presented in both the aroma and flavor.

I also have a feeling this wine might age well, given its youthful tannins.

Amici Pinot Noir price $39.98.

Amici Pinot Noir Wine Rating:

Jon Rogers, Honest Wine Reviews – 90 Points.

Complex in aroma and intriguing in flavor.

Suggested Food Pairing

Because of the complexity, you could easily treat this wine as a standalone sipper.

However, with food, go with a pairing of Thai style roast duck.
